February '16 Vibes

I've got nothing against February, but it's just not my favorite month. If January is all about wrapping up the holidays with new year's resolutions and March is the beginning of a new season, then what is February really? My favorite holiday has always been Valentine's Day for as long as I can remember which of course is the crowning glory of February. So let's take a stand now and say February is all about love; flushed pink, counting down the minutes, smiling on the inside love. That's how I feel when I look at this room. It makes my heart all fluttery- the pink sofa and coral grasscloth are so feminine, but rooted in reality with natural wood tones and a touch of cream keeps it feeling light. This kind of February makes me yearning to linger a little longer!

November Vibes

Feels appropriate to share some November vibes at the end of the month...it's sort of the gateway to the holidays, no? November is all about reflecting back on the past year and sharing all the highlights. Let warm colors shine agains a cool backdrop. Mix natural woods with lacquered finishes; the coziness of an upholstered screen with the cool modernity of a concrete lamp. Show your home how thankful you are for it by treating yourself to fresh flowers every once in a while in November.

October Vibes

This month we finished painting the Entryway and all the hallways in our house the most beautiful, palest warm pink. It's called Spanish Rose by Olympic paint. I'm pretty sure that's my main influence here. I love the barely there nature of a pale pink, it almost glows in the light. I especially love it paired with rich, jewel tones. My October is all about the juxtaposition of softness and boldness. I love how the pops of black help to keep things grounded. As we transition into Fall, remember color is the best way to keep warm.

September Vibes

In September, the nights start to cool off and Fall is on everyone's minds. I simplify a lot in September as I think about preparing to spend more time indoors. September is all about a cozy muted palette of tonal earthy colors with pastels mixed in for softness. However, since I can't live in a colorless bubble, I like to switch the art around on my walls in September to keep things looking fresh. It's a great way to bring in colors you thought might never work together. Be a softer version of yourself in September.

August Vibes

Has it been a month already? To say summer is flying by would be a complete understatement. Anyway, let's talk August...

August is fiery and bright. For me, nature is always calling in August. Get out and make the best out of each endless evening! August is the tomato red from a burning sunset, it is the faded blue from a sun-bleached pair of denim shorts. It's the roughness of woven rattan and vintage textiles. Let the ease of Minimal modern pieces help to lead you in the transition back to the real world. Take an entire afternoon to read Jack Kerouac on a sun porch in August : )
